Not only had I wasted my time and money on a terrible rental bike, but I had also been treated poorly by the staff and accused of causing damage that was clearly due to the bike's poor maintenance. These Consumer Purchase Terms and Conditions (the “ Terms”) are a legal agreement between you (“ You” or “ Customer”) and Rad Power Bikes Inc., a Delaware corporation (“ RPB”, “ us” or “ we”), and apply to all consumer purchases by you of any model of RPB’s electric bikes (“ ebike(s)”) and/or related accessories or other products offered by RPB (collectively with ebikes, the “ Products”) in the United States only. In the end, I left the rental place feeling angry, frustrated, and ripped off. They claimed that I had caused the brake pads to wear down and the gears to malfunction, even though I had only ridden the bike for a short distance and had not done anything unusual or reckless. But when I asked for a refund, the staff refused and accused me of damaging the bike. The brakes were so weak that I almost crashed into a pedestrian, and the gears were so difficult to use that I had to get off and manually adjust the chain multiple times.Īfter struggling for an hour, I finally gave up and returned the bike to the rental place. But within just a few minutes, I realized that it was completely unsafe. Reluctantly, I set off on my ride, hoping that the bike would at least be tolerable. When I complained to the staff, they seemed disinterested and told me that all their bikes were "well-maintained." They refused to give me a different bike or offer any kind of refund or compensation for the poor quality of the bike. The brakes were almost completely worn down and barely worked, the gears were clunky and hard to shift, and the seat was so uncomfortable that I could hardly sit on it. However, my enthusiasm quickly turned to frustration when I discovered that the bike I was given was in terrible condition. I arrived at the rental bike place on a hot summer day, excited to explore the city on two wheels. It was as if spending nearly $2,000 with their company meant absolutely nothing. They made 0 attempts to offer a courtesy install of an accessory even though they sole me the accessory online even though it's not in stock. ![]() The company made 0 attempts to dissuade me from this decision. I refused to take possession of the bike. "No, we would have called you to gain authorization to charge EVEN MORE MONEY to install the accessories". I asked when the accessories arrived, would I be charged to install them? "Yes." But I paid online for the 'pro build' ($165) and had the accessories been in stock they would be in the bike right now. So when i got to the store, the bike wasn't at all what I ordered. These have yet to arrive and yet to be refunded. They called me to pay even more money to get accessories shipped to my home. I added accessories and selected the pro build. I was intending to use the bike for serious purposes as my car died recently. $1399.ended up being $1834 by the time I checked out. Maybe the worst experience with a company in years. ![]()
